THOTEL chooses Fotografia Italiana Arte Contemporanea.
When business meets art.

Fiera Milano Rho, 22 February – Fotografia Italiana Arte Contemporanea is a gallery opened in Milan in late 2002 by Nicoletta Rusconi with the collaboration of Fabio Castelli, one of the most important Italian collectors of graphic art and photography. Through a series of initiatives aimed at valorising the artistic research of young talents – exhibition spaces, editorial publications, competitions – it shortly became one of the most significant realities in the world of Italian artistic-photographic production. It is the only gallery that handles contemporary art created exclusively by artists of Italian nationality who use photography as their expressive medium. In the last few years the “Premio di Fotografia Italiana Arte Contemporanea” competition has been set up with the aim of giving greater visibility to Italian artists.

The partnership with THOTEL comes from the passion of Amato Ramondetti, the chain’s president, for an art form – photography – that in Italy still struggles to find its rightful recognition despite the fact that it attracts a host of admirers and fans. In a modern reinterpretation of the concept of patronage, THOTEL acts as promoter of a synergy between two extremely vital realities, symbols of our cultural heritage: the tradition of Italian hospitality, and the country’s extraordinary artistic vocation, which finds one of its simplest and most immediate expressions in the language of photography.

The Project: Giving Visibility to Art In this stimulating union between culture and entrepreneurship, THOTEL becomes a vehicle for disseminating art throughout Italy thanks to a dynamic product that is developed on various levels. The communal parts of THOTELs will host a series of travelling shows linked to the “Premio di Fotografia Italiana Arte Contemporanea,” a competition set up with the goal of giving a chance for visibility to young and not-so-young artists who, although gifted with great talent, have never had an opportunity to be introduced to the public at large. Each project envisages the publication of a catalogue, with texts by noted art critics and historians who will interpret each artist’s work.

In the meantime the rooms of THOTEL will be enriched with the images of highly promising photographers like Margherita del Piano, Marco Campanini, Saverio Lombardi Vallauri, Maurizio Montagna and Claudia Pozzoli, some of the winners of the first edition of the prestigious competition, which has always sought to unite artistic research with dissemination of the works.

THOTEL Satisfies the Thirst for Culture Spokesman of a new philosophy of hospitality that makes functionality its strength, the THOTEL chain satisfies the demands of a business and leisure clientele that is dynamic, curious and attentive to details, that likes to be stimulated by the new forms of artistic expression. The complex, profound language of photographic art is an invitation right from the hotel entrance: it accompanies guests along their routes with exhibitions of the best contemporary talents and ends in their rooms, wishing them goodnight. THOTEL offers its guests a new experience at every stay.
