Fiera Milano Rho, 23 May – EIRE, the Italian exhibition devoted to real estate and property development, is the stage chosen by CIS (Compagnia Investimenti e Sviluppo di Verona) to announce the partnership signed with THOTEL, the new brand of the Turin Hotels International Group, for the realisation of the hotel complex to be built in the Verona Forum.
Verona Forum is the renovation project of the former Foro Boario, an area adjacent to the West Gate of Fiera di Verona, designed by the architect Mario Bellini. It will feature a striking 11,300 m2 executive tower destined to become one of the symbols of modern-day Verona and a prestigious four-star business hotel covering around 8,000 m2. “An island that won’t be an island” – to use Mr Bellini’s words – that will contribute to the making of the Verona of the third millennium, thanks in part to the great attention paid to the ecological aspects. CIS’ mission has always been the promotion and improvement of metropolitan areas, with great emphasis placed on respect for the environment, history and vocation of the land, through projects that aim to regenerate the urban fabric by means of an architecture designed for people and for a vital, active, sustainable city.
So it is out of a common feeling and the sharing of a new philosophy of hospitality that the partnership with THOTEL is born, a young, dynamic brand able to offer a casual hospitality that is a blend of informality and practicality, functionality and technology, with special attention to guests’ aesthetic tastes. THOTEL, which is drawing on the collaboration of Massimo Simonetti, the interior designer for the entire project, will be opening 24 hotels in the space of six years, all located near ring roads and motorway junctions of major Italian cities. An innovative vision in harmony with the latest trends, designed to satisfy the demands of a constantly evolving business and leisure tourism market by offering hotels aimed at business travellers that place the emphasis on relaxation and well-being.
The Verona Forum complex is also in the forefront in terms of the environmentally friendly solutions adopted, not just thanks to its “green heart”, which will constitute a new lung for the city, but also for technological solutions that look to building automation, a term that is fast coming into everyday use and refers to the utilisation of advanced technologies applicable to building management systems in order to increase their energy efficiency, as a new frontier in the building industry.
The hotel, too, will therefore be equipped with an integrated system that, through a network of interactive electronic devices, will enable operation and control aimed at improved comfort and energy saving. A single automated system is able to manage the heating, cooling, lighting, facade shading, alarms, and any additional plant or system that is implemented.
The THOTEL that will be stand in the Verona Forum will be a real “lifestyle hotel”: the modern alternative to the traditional hotel, designed for sophisticated, discerning clients who in the hotel product look for personality, differentiation, and especially, identification with their world.
The interiors will combine comfort and modernity, the atmosphere will be casual and informal. The rooms will be done using natural materials, with warm, inviting colours. To engage the guest emotionally, pictures by the best emerging photographers, selected by Fotografia Italiana Arte Contemporanea, will be on display in the rooms and communal areas. The original “show kitchen” formula used in the restaurants will feature speedy, efficient service while keeping culinary standards high. The hotel will also be equipped with meeting and congress rooms for 150-200 persons, while on the wellness front it will feature a fully equipped workout room, a Turkish bath with chromotherapy and an exercise pool. “For years,” says CIS Managing Director Paolo Bertelli, “we have been investing in the rebirth of cities as places of economic exchange and socialisation by promoting operations able to attract investment and create positive spin-offs locally. Our projects bear the signatures of masters of international architecture like Mario Bellini, Richard Rogers, Massimiliano Fuksas, Daniel Libeskind, and Dante O. Benini, for the realisation of prestigious works that contribute to a rereading of the future of cities, through urban spaces for residential, accommodation and management uses. New poles of aggregation inspired by a model of the city that is compact, dynamic, and truly sustainable.”
With over 150 shareholders and a share capital of € 48 million, CIS SpA is a financial holding company that is an expression of the entrepreneurship and economic system of north-east Italy, born with the objective of bringing private and bank/financial capital together by means of business opportunities capable of generating profits and positive impacts on the local economy. Since 1993 the company has been investing in the territory by focusing on the renovation of industrial areas, logistics and urban renewal, with great attention to respect for the environment and to the history and vocation of the areas concerned.
In 2007, CIS, “the public company of Garda”, which sees Verona as the centre of gravity of a large metropolitan area, founded the sub-holding Real Estate CIS – RECIS, 100% controlled, which is active in real estate promotion, development and commercialisation. A new ownership structure that valorises the strategic relationship between real estate development and infrastructure, creating new synergies in one of the most productive and interesting geographic areas in Europe, where two European “corridors” cross: Lisbon-Kiev and Palermo-Berlin.
